Life (David Attenborough-Narrated Version) [Blu-ray]
First I have to say I appreciate Amazon, had a problem and Amazon made it right, though I don’t believe it was actually an Amazon problem. The blu ray Life disks were excellent and David Attenborough was much easier to listen to than the Opera Life series, as I had watched that on the Discovery channel. The BBC version was slightly different, in a good way and both versions had astoungingly great shots. I would have liked Mike Rowe to have narrated this release, however even though David Attenborough is getting on he still did a fabulous job. The Life series is becoming part of the collection of great wildlife documentaries, the work that went into ‘Life’ was notable and unmistakably rare footage was provided. Read more »
Les Miserables: The 25th Anniversary Concert [Blu-ray]
I loved this concert as much as I did the 10th anniversary. Appreciated and noted the subtle but effective lyric changes and loved the cast. I even have to give kudos to Nick Jonas. This isn’t his background, it probably isn’t his world (musical theater) but you could see that he gave it his all and while he could learn more about connecting with his fellow performers on stage (eye contact!), his voice wasn’t as strong as the others, and his face was a little too stern all the time, it didn’t ruin the show for me – he was endearing and he sung his heart out. It was lovely seeing Michael Ball and many of the others at the end. Lea playing the role of Fantine was great – she’s such as pro; and Alfie, oh Alfie your voice brings my heart to life! Great DVD – I’ll probably play it 100 times before I know it! Read more »
Cave of Forgotten Dreams (Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray Combo)
I was lucky to see this in 3D when it first came out in the theaters. Director Herzog takes full advantage of 3D technology for you to see how those ancient artists used the textures and naturally formed shapes to create such masterpieces of art. Read more »
IMAX: Under the Sea 3D (Single-Disc Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray Combo)
I just bought my 3D TV this week, so spent hours reading reviews to order the best 3D movies that I could find. This movie was what I was looking for in terms of 3D experience. The film has amazing color, 3D depth, and footage. There are lots of scenes where they showcase a variety of underwater life and pick out fish/rocks with deep depth in color. There are schools of fish and some fish that I never seen before this film. It’s really like being under the sea and will WOW any of our friends that come over and watch the film. The only draw backs (minor) are that they do not showcase large animals (shark, Whale…) very long or in some instances not at all (Whale). It’s a “must buy” for your 3D collection! Read more »

3: The Dale Earnhardt Story [Blu-ray]
I wondered how ESPN could do even a decent job of Dale Earnhardt’s early career. They did great. I’ve been a fan of the man since the mid 80′s. ESPN did a very good job on a touchy subject. I commend them and recommend buying this film. Read more »
2009 New York Yankees: The Official World Series Film [Blu-ray]
For example, with A-Rod’s homerun off Joe Nathan in the ALDS, they show the homerun from multiple camera angles (as they do with most of the other clips), but that’s it. There is no television commentary at all. The only thing you hear is the sweet sound of the bat as it makes contact with the baseball and the crowd going nuts. Some people will like this, others will not. I personally didn’t have a problem with it although sometimes I do like to hear it when the announcers go crazy. Conclusion… As I mentioned before, if you are a true diehard Yankee fan, go out and buy this now. Read more »
That’s it That’s All Blu-Ray
Wow… I did not even snowboard at the point that I saw this film. From the opening credits, all the way until the end, my eyes were glued to the screen like a kid in a candy store. This was better than a candy store though. HD filming at its finest, the scenery is luscious, the action shots are truly superb, the editing is thoughtful and seamless. And on top of it all, the soundtrack builds slowly like a crescendo and makes you want to leave the movie on repeat in the background of whatever party you are throwing. This movie far surpasses any prior ski/snowboard, snow- porn film ever made, in every way possible. That’s It That’s All Snowboard Blu-Ray Disc Read more »
