Just lovely! I just saw Words and Music on tv and it just one of the best movie musicals ever made. Judy is Good. I loved Judy singing Johnny-One-Note and loved watching her co-star from Meet Me in Saint Louis pretending like he was in love with a girl. Excelllent with glorious songs. I adore this movie and have it on video and I think that it is wonderful especially the music, as the songs are great. Words and Music. Great cast. Mickey Rooney is great! Mickey Rooney is great in this movie. COOL movie! Judy, Mickey, Vera-Ellen, Gene, and an ever-so-cute June Alyson in "thou swell"! Each One Needed The Other. I have waited for a few years to have Words and Music available on DVD and the wait was worth it to me. An MGM Classic Musical. This dramatized biography of Rodgers and Hart is given the glossy MGM treatment, but is none the worse for it. Excelllent with glorious songs. I have this movie on video and I think that it is a wonderful movie especially the songs. Thou swell. After being forced to withdraw from The Barkleys of Broadway planned with Easter Parade partner Fred Astaire because of ill health, Judy Garland rose from her sick bed where she was being fed intravenously to perform one number for this film.
An Unforgetable Evening. I'd just returned from the Berlin Air Lift with my honorable discharge papers and a purple heart proudly pinned on my chest. VICKERS. I love musicals. MGM Musical Stars in Top Form. This film has taken a beating over the years for its hokey plot. The music makes it all worthwhile. Everything they say about the hokey quality of the movie and how whitewashed it was for the big screen is true. Musical at its best. Nostalgia at its best,as far as musicals go. Rodgers and Hart. Words and Music This is one of my favorite movies from the 40's. Disapointing. I love musicals. Musical Moments Compensate For Weak, Inaccuate Story. To describe the 1948 WORDS AND MUSIC as a "whitewashed" version of the famous song-writing team Rogers and Hart is a gross understatement. A Musical Extravaganza. Words and Music is the story of Richard Rodgers (Tom Drake) and Lorenz Hart (Mickey Rooney), the writing team behind many hit songs from the 20s and 30s. Good Film... ONLY THE ACTOR'S DESERVED BETTER THAN THIS! First-Rate Celebs Deserve More Than This!
A Review of Rogers and Hart's great songs. The plot is thin and fictionalized. A very wonderful musical film. This is a very great musical. Great musical featuring the best of Rodgers and Hart. This musical is one of the great many MGM unknowns. Great performances in fictional Rodgers & Hart biography. First of all, this can't be widescreen because it was made circa 1948. Great MGM Musical. This terrific movie has all MGM's great stars singing and dancing to ROdgers and Hart's wonderful songs. This is Mickey Rooney's movie! I never realized what a bundle of energy a youthful Mickey Rooney was. Words and Music. For Hollywood a fairly decent biopic at least better than Night and Day treatment of Cole Porter. TURNER/MGM/WARNER EMBARRASMENT! This was released on VHS ages ago and its about time Warner re-releases it as a re-mastered Dolby Digital masterpiece that it deserves and that they can and have done so beautifully ! Master of melodrama. Don't watch WORDS AND MUSIC for biographical accuracy; watch it for the musical numbers (they'd be called music videos today). WORDS AND MUSIC DVD. WANTED TO REPLACE MY FHS TAPE OF THIS MOVIE TO DVD.
Words and music. the movie is old (1948),but bright and entertaining. Words and Music. I have been waiting for years for "Words and Music"(1948) to be released on DVD. All Should Be Rolling Over In Their Graves. There are so many problems with this film, it's hard to tell where to start. A wonderful musical entertainment. This is one of my favourite musicals. MUSICAL NUMBERS a PLUS ; MICKEY ROONEY a MINUS. Great songs and dances performed by MGM stars at their peak, but Mickey Rooney should have died in the first reel.
