Good songs, dancing but a boring story. The story is boring and slow moving. Beware this "bootleg" DVD. ROYAL WEDDING isn't on DVD yet. One of Jane Powell's finest musicals. ROYAL WEDDING gives Jane Powell one of her most glittering showcases. A wonderful musical treat! I really enjoyed this movie, and would give it 20 stars if I could. Great MGM Musical. Royal Wedding is one of those delightful MGM musicals that graced the 1950's and the likes of which will not be seen again. Widescreen? I already own this movie on VHS and my sole reason for orderingthe DVD was because it is described as "widescreen letterboxformat". Wonderful musical, poor transfer to DVD. This is one of my favorite Fred Astaire musicals. Awful Edition Of This Movie. Amazon sent a special message saying this edition was available at a rather high price and I assumed it was a new remastered version. Great Movie - Very poor technical qualities. I heard that a new digitally restored version of "Royal Wedding" was being prepared. Good natured and charming, with Fred Astaire, Jane Powell and a fine love song, Too Late Now, by Burton Lane and Alan Jay Lerner. Royal Wedding is a great example of how a charming movie with many excellent qualities can be consigned to the critical scrap heap because it fell into the public domain.

Fine Movie, Horrible Print. Everyone who's interested in this movie has probably seen it many times. Dancing on the Ceiling again. Fred Astaire and Jane Powell are a highly successful sibling dance team. Astaire and Powell are Great! This DVD was great fun to watch! This is a True Classic! Fred Astaire and Jane Powell are very convincing and highly amusing in this classic flick. Just okay. i love fred astaire so he was the only reason i liked this movie. One of the quirkier Fred Astaire musicals..... Fred Astaire and Jane Powell play a touring brother and sister dance team, who have a chance opportunity to perform at the same time as the marriage of one of the members of the British royal family. Good movie. Lousy transfer. The other reviewers knew what they were talking about. Definitely worth buying. This is a delightful movie with some wonderful dancing and music. Decent M-G-M Fun. I enjoyed this film. A Bit of Nostalgia. This is a delightful film!

Sappy but.... The story is as sappy as one could hope for in a musical: a sister and brother song and dance team are performing in London when Elizabeth II gets married. A memorable film. This film doesn't have many memorable songs, but it certainly has its moments. Wonderful Movie. This movie is absolutely wonderful! Loved the movie, hated the DVD. By an odd coincidence, the same evening I watched this DVD one of the cable stations was broadcasting the same movie. ROYAL MUSICAL. Available at the moment only in rather shabby DVD versions, due to copyright problems, "Royal Wedding" remains a civilized delight. A Must Have for your collection!! If you love Astaire, you'll love this one! DO NOT BUY THIS VERSION! DO NOT BUY THIS VERSION! Dancing On The Ceiling The Main High Point. This movie features some of the most famous dance scenes by Fred Astaire, such as the one where he dances on the walls and ceiling. Royal Weddning. The video works on only one DVD player, the one that is not in my classroom. Royal Wedding. Fred Astaire's dancing is always great and the scene where he dances on the floor, wall and ceiling is unforgettable (How did they do that?

Comparison of two releases. The 2001 digitally remastered GoodTimes DVD is far superior in both picture and sound than this 2002 Alpha Video DVD. Charming musical. Charming old musical. DVD version is a waste of money. Other reviewers have commented on the poor quality of the Madacy version of this DVD. A Disatisfied Customer. This is the first item purchased from Amazon that I was less than satisfied with. A very enjoyable movie. It's a very enjoyable Fred Astaire movie and has the dancing on the ceiling episode that is regarded as a movie milestone. A Royal Disappointment. Astaire, as always, is brilliant. What a shame. Many of us have been waiting for a long time to get the old musicals on DVD eg Fred Astaire, High Society, The Gold Diggers etc. Good Times Video--The Best of a Bad Lot. Unfortunately, "Royal Wedding", one of the best of the Technicolor MGM musicals, is not available on a high-quality DVD. Nice dancing and music, but very dull. This movie would have been a complete failure if Fred Astaire hadn't starred in it. Cute film, great dancing. we purchased a few 'wedding' themed films as a group activity for the bridesmaids, this was a particularly cute film.

Looks better than we have a right to believe. Royal Wedding has been a favorite in the Fred Astaire canon ever since it was released 54 years ago. A great film! I highly recommend this film. Love the movie, hate the transfer. Royal Wedding is a minor Astaire movie, not even up to Easter Parade, but his dancing was (as always) just amazing. Entertaining Fred Astaire film. ROTTEN DVD transfer. ROYAL WEDDING is STANLEY DONEN'S first film production and truly, he hits a bullseye with this very entertaining Fred Astaire musical. Astaire's dancing is the real story this time around. This movie has some of the most remarkable dancing in film history, however the direction is not as polished as the Garland/Astaire vehicle EASTER PARADE. Royal Wedding Review. If you like musicals, this is a must-have. A Lotta Dance for Your Dime. The release of "Royal Wedding,' in 1951, fifteen years after the last of the Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers films at poverty-stricken RKO Radio Pictures, finds many changes from Astaire's previous work. Royal Wedding. This is one of Jane Power's best musicals with a good story line. A Great Movie That Isn't Given Justice on This DVD. I love this movie. A Great Fred Film in the Worst Quality. My wife and I have been Fred Astaire fans for many years, and look forward to these classics being released on DVD.

Fine movie, mediocre print. Much has been made here about how poor this DVD transfer is. Great Musical! Jane Powell and Fred Astaire star in this wonderfully directed musical as Ellen and Tom Bowen, sister and brother dancing team. Fred Astaire deserved better. A brother-sister dance team go to England to perform at the time of Princess Elizabeth's wedding. Great movie, [not pleased with DVD quality] There are two classic Fred Astaire performances in this movie: the dance with the hat rack and his dance on the walls and ceiling. A great musical in need of rescue from the public domain. "Royal Wedding" is a great movie for anyone who loves those big MGM musicals of the 40's and 50's and the dancing of Fred Astaire. Good movie ruined by bad transfer. I'll never understand why the major studios allow dinky little production companies to release their movies on below standard DVDs.
